Not having their business cards updated for many years Dinan cards were dated and hard to read with adjustable kerning being used among each line of type. I sought to create a clean and simplified look that tied more in line with their present image. The result was the card above with a classic look and styling. The Dinan logo, easily recognized among BMW performance circles was paramount to the design and needed to be displayed prominently, hence the sizing. Another element that had become synonymous with Dinan was their use of carbon fiber on their signature products such as cold air intakes. Even though it was expensive and not many manufacturers used the material Dinan insisted it be used for many of their products due to its strength in addition to its looks. Not only was it the best material available for the job at hand but it looked elegant and tasteful as well. These things catered to the market at hand with BMW being known as the ‘ultimate driving machine’– a car synonymous with performance and refinement. For this very reason a backdrop of the carbon fiber grid was mimicked as part of the background to give the card that touch of Dinan that sets them apart from the competition.
